Dawn's Team

Terry Brooks, Husband

Terry is the love of my life. He proposed to me on our sighting of the tenth meteor during the Perseid Meteor Shower on August 11, 2012. Need I say more? But, of course I will. He is the reason I found the courage and determination to become an author. His knack for whisking me away on beautiful adventures woke me up to a bigger vision for my life. His generosity of encouragement, time, and money empowered me to create a life I love.

Terry is a voracious reader of courtroom dramas and international intrigue. He provides honest feedback on my writing. Yes! He proofread the early, excessively wordy, information-dumping manuscripts. And we deepened our friendship. Now, as he reads one of my new scenes and says, “You’ve captured my interest. I want to keep reading,” I know the scene works, and it is just what it needs to be.

Courtney Ockerman, Personal Assistant

Being Dawn’s personal assistant is the best job I have ever had. I get to use my English Literature degree (see, it did come in handy, Mom!) to type and edit Dawn’s writing, brainstorm plot points, and develop all the behind-the-scenes projects that come with being an author. I also get to eat homemade zucchini bread and discuss the likelihood of encountering Bigfoot in the woods - what more can you ask for in a job?

When not getting lost in conversational rabbit holes, I enjoy wandering through my cottage garden with my American Cocker Spaniel, Poppy, reading horror and fantasy books, and dabbling in my latest art hyperfixation.
